Brainlab Strengthens its Administrative Board

The company is expanding and diversifying the board’s expertise
Brainlab SE, a global medtech company, is expanding its Administrative Board with Iris Plöger, Dr. Till Spillmann and Rudolf Kreitmair as new members. With these appointments, the company strengthens its central governing body with expertise in legal matters, economic and industrial policy, as well as finance.
These additional competencies enable all committees to be composed of even more qualified independent board members with proven expertise in the relevant fields. Having more members also provides the necessary robustness to ensure that the board remains fully capable of acting even in the event of absences or conflicts of interest.
Iris Plöger is a recognized expert in economic and industrial policy as well as regulatory affairs. From 2017 to 2025, she was a member of the Executive Board of the Federation of German Industries (BDI), where she was responsible, among other things, for developing numerous industry strategies, initiating data space infrastructures for the healthcare sector, and the association’s crisis management during the COVID-19 pandemic. Before that, she held various positions within the BDI and worked as an attorney. Since April 2026, she has been a partner at the strategic communications and public affairs consultancy FGS Global in Berlin.
Dr. Till Spillmann brings extensive international experience as a business lawyer and advisor. Among other roles, he served as managing partner at the law firm Bär & Karrer AG and as partner at Niederer Kraft Frey AG in Zurich. He is currently a partner at the investment firm Argon Management AG and the real estate developer PMT Management AG. In addition, he serves on several administrative boards, including as Chairman of the Board of Directors of SoftwareOne Holding AG. He holds a doctorate in law from the University of Zurich.
Rudolf Kreitmair is Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Managing Director of Brainlab SE. He has more than two decades of experience at the company and has played a key role in shaping development at Brainlab in various financial leadership positions, including as Executive Vice President of Finance and in international roles.
“With Iris Plöger, Dr. Till Spillmann, and Rudolf Kreitmair, we are gaining three outstanding individuals for our Administrative Board who will contribute their expertise in the best interests of the company,” says Stefan Vilsmeier, Chairman of the Administrative Board of Brainlab. “Their experience in legal matters, industrial policy and business practice strengthens our ability to navigate the complex challenges of volatile market environments. This creates a broad foundation for further developing Brainlab—as a partner, as an employer, and as a provider of innovative technologies that improve the quality of life for patients worldwide.”
The Brainlab Administrative Board serves as the central governing body within the company’s one-tier management system. It was established in June 2025, when Brainlab was converted from a stock corporation (AG) into a European Company (SE). Following its recent expansion, the board now consists of nine members and brings together diverse expertise in technology, corporate management, legal and finance, industrial policy, and healthcare. Stefan Vilsmeier, Chairman of the Administrative Board, founded Brainlab in 1989 and led the company as CEO until the end of 2024 before stepping down from operational management. Last year, with its conversion into an SE, Brainlab once again underscored its commitment to European values, strengthened employee participation and sustainably positioned itself as a global organization.
