Techno Queen- Belcanto meets Beats

Elizabeth I, Queen of England, awakens somewhere between life and death—neither truly gone nor fully alive. She reflects on her past and her conflict with her eternal rival Mary Stuart. Set between the operatic sounds of Gaetano Donizetti and driving techno rhythms, an intense interplay of power, guilt and identity unfolds. Elizabeth confronts her younger self and grapples with her past. Shaped by betrayal, family conflict and inner contradictions, she seeks reconciliation with herself and with her greatest adversary.
Director Francesco Micheli, who has successfully explored cross-genre formats in Berlin and Bergamo, sees the emotional extremes of Donizetti's music as the perfect counterpoint to the energy of techno. Together with Georgian multimedia artist Uta Bekaia, working with the Bayerische Staatsoper for the first time, they create a total work of art that moves between opera, performance and club culture.
