With the installation of Loop-X®, Curve® Navigation and Mixed Reality Viewer, KIMS Hospitals in Bengaluru, a large hospital network in India, is strengthening its position as a center of excellence for functional neurosurgery in South Asia.

KIMS Hospitals in Bengaluru, India, is the first Brainlab reference center for functional neurosurgery in South Asia. At the Centre of Excellence's opening event, hospital leadership, clinical experts and media representatives came together to discuss the future of functional neurosurgery workflows.

The new reference center combines robotic-assisted intraoperative imaging, advanced surgical navigation and mixed reality visualization within an integrated technology ecosystem. It aims to increase clinical precision, optimize surgical workflows and support the training of surgeons in functional neurosurgery.

Neurological disorders are a growing challenge for healthcare systems worldwide: according to the World Health Organization, more than 40 percent of the global population is affected by neurological disorders. Against this backdrop, the new center is intended to improve access to advanced treatment options, for example for Parkinson’s disease and epilepsy, while further strengthening neurosurgical expertise in India and South Asia.

The event was opened by Dr. Ramalingam Chinnadurai, Regional Medical Director and Chief of Adult Medical Intensive Care & Emergency Services, KIMS Hospitals, Bengaluru. Four leading specialists presented clinical case examples and explained how the integrated Brainlab setup helps optimize workflows and support precise patient care:

  • Dr. Ravi Mohan Rao B, Director & Senior Consultant, Neurosurgery, KIMS Hospitals, Electronic City, Bengaluru

  • Dr. Raghuram Gopalakrishnan, Director & Senior Consultant, Head of Stereotactic and Functional Neurosurgery, KIMS Hospitals, Mahadevapura, Bengaluru
